I come to Kay's coffee shop almost every Sunday for a drink and a pastry. Kay's is a tiny, cozy place with a delicious drink selection and the most friendly, warm employees. Their drinks are amazing. They make their flavored syrups (at least vanilla and lavender that I know of) and baked good by hand, and you can really feel the love that goes into them. They also have really unique flavors (ginger matcha, turmeric, lavender...) that you can't find just anywhere!
My go to drinks, depending on my mood are:
Iced lavender mocha - they make the mochas with real ground chocolate, they're kind of gritty? But not in a bad way, I actually really like it! It makes the drinks feel more substantial, having something to chew on... I know that sounds really weird, just trust me!
Iced lavender latte
Iced brown sugar latte
Iced coconut mocha
Lavender lemonade - it's so pretty! They use butterfly flower tea powder to make it purple!
I love Kay's so much that sometimes I get 2 drinks at once. Also sometimes 2 pastries! One for now, one for later.
The scones are to die for, I especially love the strawberry and peach but I'll eat any of them! I would want a Kay's scone for my last meal.
Also the other locals that frequent this place are really nice. Sometimes people sit on the patio with their dogs. Overall the atmosphere makes you feel so warm and fuzzy!
One difficulty, which is not Kay's fault, is parking. They have spots reserved in a lot on the other side of Dukes, but on Sunday's I'm lucky if I can get in there. But I'll search for parking for a good while to get my weekly Kay's!
I'll see you there on Sunday, friends :) -

I have been a long time customer of mostly the Camarillo location and sometimes the Ventura location. I find their coffees and especially the croissants and zucchini bread are to die for.
That said, today, the clerk must have been having a bad day. She told me they didn't have my usual hazelnut sweetener so I asked what were my other options. She told me they were written on the menu board and to read them "if I could read." I looked at her in shock and said nothing. Was it so hard for her to name them? Make a suggestion?
Yes, I can in fact read but insulting YOUR customers is uncalled for! -

I go to Ventura for a week once a year. I go biking around this area and I've never known about this coffee shop. It's a small shop and has indoor/outdoor seating. I tried their honey lavender latte (lavender syrup house-made) and it's one of the best I've had. I know of a coffee shop by my area, Pasadena, that has an amazing lavender latte and this matches to this place. The latte is pretty sweet and very fragrant and smooth. I came here before I left and it did not disappoint. The great thing about this place is that if you wanted to replace regular milk with almond or soy milk it is free! Oat milk is an additional $1, but I have yet to see a coffee shop do free almond or soy milk replacement. Amazing, flavorful, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee

I love this little coffee shop. Yummy treats, delicious coffee, and great location! Bonus points that I'm an aerospace nerd and I love the airplane memorabilia throughout her shop!
